Volume 19 summary
Weed shapeshifted in the form of an undead lich bullied the ghost ship crew till he had them in dancing in his palm through fear. He made some outfit with hood and silver bells as a pirate outfit, Surka also tried wearing it. Zephyr as a fisherman helped to catch good fish for dinner with his advanced skills.
Yurin asked Weed what if she had a boyfriend, what would he think of not? He basically answered that she had to experience life and dreams without regrets, but if the guy hurt her in some lover's tiff then he might just get strangled to death. Due to lack of sailing skills, the ship often got caught by currents or they went in the wrong direction etc.
When they were around 2-3 hours out from Yipiah island, Weed even summoned Death Knight to help him force feed water to the caught fish (to increase their weight for selling lol). They landed on the island and of course started selling the fish. Weed caught a lot of attention for being a lich. He visited the Mariners Guild and learnt sailing.
Meanwhile, Seoyun got a skill to communicate with animals and did a quest to help a fawn reunite with her mother. Then they asked her to retrieve some necklace that was lying in a forest (I think that was a reward not a 2nd quest?).
Tori invited her to Todum, and asked her to change to vampire class - much higher strength & magic ability, but more death penalty & vulnerable to divine magic - but she was wary of him and refused.
Weed made his own little sailboat and practiced to raise the skill, he got it to beginner 4 level - then the boat capsized, and he lost 35 Fame for it. After this, they went to a beach shack where he overheard some of the good rumors spreading about Mora. He failed at building rapport with the waitress through sculpture, seems she hated it, but then found out she liked adventures and quickly increased familiarity talking about his search for Nipelheim's mysteries. Turns out the waitress' grandfather used to be a seaman making lots of trips to the northern seas, got a hint to ask him. Irene, Hwaryeong, Belroteuna went along with Weed to visit the old fisherman. The grandpa explained some sailing tricks and his skill went up. There Weed got a quest to meet with a blacksmith Mokon, but couldn't accept it as he already had maximum quests ongoing. Irene offered to get the quest, and later the other 2 also asked for it.
Geomchis were busy trying to chat up women on the beach to get friend requests from them, so they stayed behind. Others made preparations for their journey, Mapan filling the ship with trade goods for the northern towns, then they set sail from Yipiah.
In the waters, they saw rare sights like mermaids giving them a boost on their journey. The party danced and even put on a play on the ship deck, turned out that pleased the sea, water & wind spirits (giving them some help for their trip) but they lost 5 Fame for the subject matter.
The ship ran into trouble with a group of sea monsters. Weed didn't want to fight them as they would have poor loot, but was forced to as it wasn't possible to outrun them. He used Dark Spear (remember it was used against him by the undead dragon) and also ended up resurrecting some of the monsters to serve as his undead minions, which took a lot of mana.
They reached the harbor and started asking around in a bar etc., got some info from a fisherman. Initially he mentioned Las Phalanges, and Weed was shocked as that was known to have monsters of 500-600 level while this was a B level quest. But then got a rough map of Las Gigolo that would help him to travel in that region. After this they met with Mokon, others completed their quests, he also had an easy C-level quest to get iron from the nearby mine which they finished as well. The journey north to Las Plagues would be very dangerous with hard to avoid ice floes etc. But Pale's group was running out of time to complete their quest, Weed decided to go ahead himself. Later they could always meet up using Yurin's Picture Shift ability if needed.
Mandoluun and his wife got a message to visit Mora, his wife agreed to help raise her mood. Mandoluun had some misgivings about what kind of sculpture he would see especially since the price was 1 Copper. They were greeted by a girl on arrival who took them to the Arts Center. There drilling (the architect) met them to give a personal tour and open the center. Belroteuna helped to hire a sub captain for the ship with high sailing skill. Hye (the new recruit) was a bit shocked to see the ghost ship, but was persuaded by the 'generous' 1 gold/day salary. Major guilds of the Versian continent came to know Weed was continuing an S class quest somewhere in the north, many were jealous as the first person to complete an S class quest would surely get great rewards. Back in the central continent, Ray Bard heard about the ship and dispatched an Admiral of the Haben kingdom in pursuit. He also contacted Griffith the leader of the pirates to sink the ship. Again switching to Mora, the Arts Center was opened with admission cost of 10 gold, after much grumbling people discovered the girl's life series of dolls that would add +2 to intellect & wisdom permanently. Weed came to know of the popularity of the exhibition and was overjoyed thinking of the profit. Mandoluun's wife after being cheered up by the dolls, suggested relocating to Mora.
Weed entered Las Plagues and found a tower with many ancient sculptures, raising his Art stats & Sculpture skill a bit. Then he started hunting in the area, making an undead army (of were badgers?) and leveling up faster and faster due to increasing army size. Seoyun got a quest from the animals to check out if there was really an elven portal that would teleport the user to anywhere they wanted. She thought of Weed when she used it, and got to Las Plagues along with Tori (think the necklace picked up in the forest is Tori's black necklace). Vampire family and Seoyun also started hunting in the dungeon.
Lee Hyun was preparing to go to school after the summer vacations. When he stepped out, Seoyun was waiting for him in casual clothes to go to school together. She followed along when Hyun took the bus, turns out it was her first bus ride and didn't even have a commuter card. Then she followed him into the classroom, she's taken all the same classes that Hyun did. Now time for the camcorder assignment to be displayed - Seoyun had a video of a day in her life; petting the dog, preparing food, eating it with the nurse etc. She got a good comment for it which made Hyun a bit upset, since he had sacrificed playing time to go tour Africa & Europe with an aid group. He did get a round of applause after showing his summer assignment though.
Admiral Felt (of Habun navy) hadn't expected the voyage to catch Weed's ghost ship to be so long or lead so far north. They had to stop often for food & provisions, and 273 sailors died from cold & falling sick etc. They also did not have good warm clothes, but it was too late to turn back. He wondered if Weed was in such a remote place searching for some treasure, thoughts of a treasure island helped motivate the crew. Griffith pirates are also on the move to catch Weed.
In Mora, traders were protesting the rise in tolls from 3% to 5% - which was still very low compared to the central continent, which regularly has 15-20% toll. They clamored for a meeting with the trade representative, knowing that Weed had gone off on a quest. Turns out the representative is Rover, and deputy etc. positions were filled with Bingryong, Phoenix et al. lmao ... no chance for traders to bribe or bully them into changing the policy.
